Querida Mexican Dress - Navy

This hand-embroidered dress from Mexico is as chic as it is comfortable! This is one of Lark's go-to travel dresses.

Why she loves it:

• Super easy to pack - it just folds right up!
• Cap-like flattering sleeves
• The fabric is thicker than some of our summer dresses, so it gives it a little more structure and can span more seasons
• It looks amazing when paired with a jean jacket (especially for air travel)
• Wear it with cowboy boots, wedges, or even cute tennis shoes, and your outfit is DONE!

The hand-woven cotton fabric is embroidered in a traditional Mayan pattern based on the traditional "Universe" design. The inner diamond has spirals on each side symbolizing “pepen”, the wings of a butterfly. In Mexican lore, the butterfly is a metaphor for transformation and the sun. When day turns to night, the sun inhabits the underworld to create the eternal fire!

Mexican textiles reflect a passion for color, pattern, and design. Using centuries-old techniques, traditional artisans still use vegetables, fruits, and barks to make natural dyes. Women weave into their clothing intricate patterns with meaning dating back to Mayan times. And families pass the traditions of weaving from generation to generation.

At Larkin Lane, Lark hand selects authentic textiles and collaborates with Mexican artisans in the design of each product. Your purchase supports these craftsmen and women. Thank you for the role you play in keeping global textile traditions alive!
