Chiapas Mexican Dress - Green
This hand-embroidered dress from Mexico is as chic as it is comfortable! Perfect with sandals on a hot day, or dressed up with earrings and wedges! The ¾ sleeves and breathable fabric make this an ideal outfit when transitioning between warm summer days to cool evenings or air conditioning.
This dress is in our Sample Sale because it ran a little smaller than the rest of the collection. (Shorter in length). Perfect for a size 4-8, or someone petite.
A light cotton fabric is embroidered in a traditional Mayan pattern based on the traditional "Universe" design. The inner diamond has spirals on each side symbolizing “pepen”, the wings of a butterfly. In Mexican lore, the butterfly is a metaphor for transformation and the sun. When day turns to night, the sun inhabits the underworld to create the eternal fire!
Mexican textiles reflect a passion for color, pattern, and design. Using centuries-old techniques, traditional artisans still use vegetables, fruits, and barks to make natural dyes.
