Beatriz Embroidered Top - White, Pink
Handcrafted in the highlands of Guatemala, the Beatriz Top (Huipil) is made through three stages: the cotton textile is handwoven on a backstrap loom, worn around the weaver's waist, using techniques rooted in ancient Mayan tradition; the embroidery is completed by hand; and the hem is finished with hand-crochet detailing. From first thread to finished garment, the Beatriz takes as long as 45 days to complete.
The Beatriz keeps the huipil's traditional rectangular construction, draping loosely rather than following a more fitted shape. The hand-crocheted hem adds both length and a layer of intricate detail at the bottom edge, giving the Beatriz a bit more coverage while keeping that same relaxed, adaptable drape.
Paired with evening pants or a skirt, the Beatriz carries its own quiet polish into any gathering.
Details
- Fabric: hand-woven and hand-dyed cotton; some embroidery threads are rayon
- Construction time: up to 45 days
- Origin: highlands of Guatemala
- Care instructions: due to the delicate nature of the hand-crochet edge, we recommend dry cleaning or hand washing and laying flat to dry
- As each piece is entirely handmade, slight variations in weave, dye, embroidery, and crochet are part of its character, not a flaw
Fit
See sizing image for full fit details. The huipil's traditional rectangular cut drapes loosely, with the hand-crocheted hem adding a bit more length and coverage — a good option for taller frames.
Lark's note
"Most traditional Guatemalan apparel tends to favor those with a shorter stature, but the Beatriz is a great fit for taller frames too — the crochet edge adds that extra length. And the crochet itself is stunning — I've never seen two exactly alike. Textile art in its own right!"

SIZE GUIDE
• Overall width: 40"
• Overall length: 23"
• Sleeve opening (laid flat): 7½" (15" circumference)
Fit Notes:
Relaxed fit, flattering drape.
Each huipil is measured laid flat. Because these garments are crafted from traditional rectangular textiles, they are designed to drape rather than fit closely. The silhouette adapts beautifully to many body shapes and stages of life.
Exact measurements may vary slightly (1/2" to 1") due to the handmade nature of each piece. If you have any questions and would like to confirm your fit at time of order, please email our team at info@larkinlane.com and we'd be happy to help you.
