Hand-Beaded Barrette from Haiti - Heart

$ 84.00

Barrettes are BACK! The hair accessory that will instantly make you feel polished and pretty.

Hand-beaded by artisans in Haiti, we LOVE this sophisticated, ethically-made update on the classic hair accessory!

Carrying on the enduring tradition of beaded artwork in Haiti, our hand-beaded accessories have their roots in Haitian Vodun flags. These flags or banners typically reflect the personality and likes of a particular spirit. The beautiful designs on each piece are individually hand-sewn with thousands of sequins and beads!

The heart design on this barrette is a symbol for Erzulie, the spirit of love.

Each year, Lark traveled to Haiti with her mother, a folk-art dealer, and fell in love with the Haitian people. “They are in my heart! They have taught me to find beauty in the simplest of things. And even in the most dire of situations to have faith and to find beauty… or create it!” -Lark Champion

Your purchase supports these craftsmen and women. Thank you for the role you play in keeping global textile traditions alive!
