BHUTANESE WOVEN SILK & COTTON
Bhutanese artisans are recognized for their complex dyeing and weaving techniques that have been developed and handed down from one woman to the next for centuries.
“What I love about Bhutan,” Lark says, “is that it’s a country known for integrity. It prides itself on its gross domestic happiness versus gross domestic product.”
Lark is drawn to the softness of the fabrics, the depth of color and richness of the weave. “The artisans combine the softest cotton ever with gorgeous silk,” she says.
Lark sources scarves and textile yardage from the Bhutanese artisans. Bringing these sophisticated textiles to the U.S., she designs unique and distinctive pillows, which are hand-sewn by a mother-daughter team in Georgia.
