Merced Embroidered Top - White, Taupe
The Merced moves effortlessly between worlds — layered over a silk slip dress for a cocktail party, or thrown over jeans for an afternoon at the art fair, it shines in either setting, making its own quiet statement wherever it goes.
The Merced is crafted from 100% handwoven cotton in a delicate, translucent weave. The artisans use an intricate open-gauze weaving technique - one that requires the weaver to lift each individual thread by hand. Hand-dyed in a soft white hue, the fabric carries an understated elegance, with hand embroidery adding delicate detail.
The Merced keeps the traditional Guatemalan huipil's rectangular construction, the open weave lending it a light, airy drape that moves with a soft, floating quality rather than following a more fitted shape.

Lark's note
I love the soft, gauze-like feel of the Merced textile. I have worn it with ivory jeans to work at an art show with my Mom and then switched into a slip dress underneath to go out to dinner! And though the textile is airy, you don't have to wear a camisole underneath, which makes it even better in hot weather.
