Silk Ikat
While ikat is often thought of as a print, it is in fact a traditional weaving process which originated in Central Asia, along the Silk Road. One of the main countries of production is Uzbekistan, where craftsmen hand-weave each yard on a "back loom", and then dip each strand in dye. Each single yard of Uzbek ikat can take up to a month to weave. These versatile and exquisite textiles are truly a form of art.
