Evelyn Embroidered Top - White, Blue, Orange
The Evelyn Top (Huipil) is made of soft, natural cotton with a luxurious hand. The embroidery is so fine it reads almost like jewelry.
At its core, the huipil is a rectangle — but on the body, that simple geometry becomes a soft, considered drape. This isn't incidental. Traditionally, the huipil was designed to live with a woman through every stage of her life — loose enough to move with her through motherhood and the years beyond, a garment meant to adapt to the body rather than the other way around.
Belted at the waist, or worn loose over trousers or a skirt — the Evelyn is made to move with you.
Details
- Hand-woven cotton, hand-embroidered
- Origin: northern highlands of Guatemala
- Construction time: 45+ days
- Machine washable inside out on delicate; lay flat to dry
- Can be ironed inside out or dry cleaned
- As each piece is entirely handmade, slight variations in weave and embroidery are part of its character, not a flaw
Fit
See sizing image for full fit details. The huipil's traditional rectangular cut is intentional — designed to drape and adjust to the body rather than fit it exactly, a hallmark of its history rather than a sizing inconsistency.
Lark's note
"Historically, the huipil was worn belted at the waist with a wraparound skirt. I like to wear mine over trousers for a loose, flowy look. Lately I've also started wearing it over a simple slip dress — almost like an overlay, covering the shoulders and adding a layer of texture. The embroidery is detailed enough that all you need is simple jewelry."

• Overall length: 21"
• Sleeve opening (laid flat): 7½" (15" circumference)
Fit Notes:
Relaxed fit, flattering drape.
Each huipil is measured laid flat. Because these garments are crafted from traditional rectangular textiles, they are designed to drape rather than fit closely. The silhouette adapts beautifully to many body shapes and stages of life.
Exact measurements may vary slightly (1/2" to 1") due to the handmade nature of each piece. If you have any questions and would like to confirm your fit at time of order, please email our team at info@larkinlane.com and we'd be happy to help you.
