The designs in Haitian beadwork typically reflect the personality of a spirit or god, known as a "loa".  Erzulie Freda, the goddess of love is depicted here. While creating these stunning pieces, our partner in Haiti carries on a textile tradition and employs her community!

Beaded artwork is an enduring tradition in Haiti. Vodun textiles were originally used as ceremonial artifacts, combining symbols of the Haitian religion alongside colonial French Catholicism.
